Silver Lake Reservoir May Have to Be Drained . . . Again

by LarryK - Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 10:25 pm

The Eastsider blog reports that the LA Dept. of Water & Power is considering an alternative way to bury a large water supply conduit from the new Headworks near Travel Town—draining the Reservoir and laying the pipe just under the bottom.  This would be instead of digging up several streets and the “grassy knoll” on the west side of the Reservoir—the idea being that it would be cheaper and less disruptive.

The Silver Lake Reservoirs Conservancy, having just learned of this new option, has yet to take a position on it, but you can be sure we will be studying it intensively and reaching out to the community extensively before weighing in.  Meanwhile, here’s a link to the article:

Please, please don’t do this. There has to be another way. The reservoir is crucial to our sense of community.
