LADWP Project: Ivanhoe Reservoir Recirculation & Aeration Project
The final element of LADWP’s water project at the Reservoirs, ending their use as open-air reservoirs full of potable (drinking) water, is the installation of new recirculation and aeration systems. These are designed to prevent stagnant and unsafe water quality in the Reservoirs, as water no longer flows out of these lakes. This installation required draining the smaller Ivanhoe Reservoir and was significantly delayed by heavy rainfall. Now, both systems are completed. Ivanhoe has been refilled and is spilling over the spillway.
Gravity flow moves water from Ivanhoe into Silver Lake. Water is being pumped from the Pollock Wells to complete the refill. Ivanhoe will now remain filled to this level, allowing water to flow over the spillway into Silver Lake. Silver Lake levels will fluctuate.
