SLRC gears up for another planting season on Armstrong

With the help of many volunteers from the community, SLRC has helped to make a forgotten dirt slope on Armstrong Ave (near the corner of Silver Lake Blvd.) into a drought-tolerant garden, landscaped with many California native plants.  This planting season kicked off on October 29, with many volunteers helping to clean, weed, water and put new native plants in the ground.

SLRC wins "Best Community Group" award from Chamber of Commerce

SLRC won the "Best at Working For Our Community" Award at the Silver Lake Chamber of Commerce annual Gala!!!

Preliminary results from our 2016 community survey

Council Members Mitch O’Farrell and David Ryu are hosting a meeting with LADWP to discuss plans to refill the reservoir this spring. The meeting will take place tomorrow – Tuesday September 20, 2016 – at 6:30 p.m. at Marshall High School, 3939 Tracy St, Los Angeles, CA 90027.

Did you know...

...that our reservoirs are designated as Los Angeles City Historic-Cultural Monuments?

In fact, they were officially designated so back in 1989 at the urging of the Silver Lake Reservoirs Conservancy (then known as the Committee to Save Silver Lake's Reservoirs) and with the assistance of Council District 13 representative Michael Woo.

While the city's official plaque was created to mark this designation, the LA Department of Water & Power had placed it in an obscure spot (on the water tower door). SLRC commissioned a new plaque and is currently working with city agencies to determine the best site for its public display.

Just this week, new street signs were erected around the reservoirs to formally reflect this special designation. Many thanks to Mary Rodriguez of CD13, Adam Miller of CD4, and Brandon Wong of LA City Department of Transportation for their support in making this happen!
